All you have to do is admire the cathedral forests, smell the damp moss in the early morning, touch the grasses, breathe in the fresh air and listen to the symphony of birds, as you enjoy Alsatian cuisine with ½ board for dinner.
Two versions available: Bed & Breakfast with simple, hearty meals (table d'hôtes) OR 3* comfort hotels and bistronomic restaurants.

Equipment required: Technical all-weather clothing, suitable for the season and in which you feel comfortable trekking. A good pair of shoes (not new) and walking poles. A more detailed list will be provided at the time of booking. The program may be subject to minor changes, depending on the condition of the route, the availability of accommodation or other hazards beyond Traces' control (closed sections, nesting, drought....).

This route runs from Saverne station to Niederbronn les Bains station.
This adventure can best be organized from Paris by TGV on the morning of Day 1 and returned to the capital by the end of the day on Day 3.
Example: Friday morning TGV departure Paris 6.52am, arrival Saverne 9.15am, departure of the microadventure from the station.
Return Sunday evening, train from Niederbronn to Strasbourg and TGV at 20.03, arrival in Paris at 23.00.
Departure for the 1st stage of our escapade, from Saverne - the gateway to Asace - to Niederbronn les Bains via the GR 53 from south to north. Passing by a curiosity in Graufthal (visit included): La Maison des Rochers and the Abbey ruins. Via the Rocher du Corbeau (Raven Rock) and the Jardin des Poétes (Poets' Garden), you'll reach the Citée Castrale de La Petite Pierre with its castle, headquarters of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park. 3-course dinner or table d'hôtes included. 6H00 walk excluding breaks | 21km | Déniv + 689 m | Déniv - 541 m
A more relaxing and "cool" day today through a magnificent forest massif with a variety of tree species, the disconnection from the real world is working! Above the village of La Petite Pierre, you can swing over a "landscape window" admiring the unspoilt Vosges du Nord environment, then discover a large sandstone rock, the Ochenstall. Look out for abundant wildlife. Visit the Lichtenberg castle (entrance fee included) before it closes (5 or 6 p.m. depending on the season) for a 360° view of the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO). 3-course dinner or table d'hôtes included. 4H30 walking approx. 17 KM + 342 M - 335 M
Already your 3rd day of walking in Alsace. You can rest at the Ute in the bucolic hamlet of Muhlthal, before tackling the ruins of the grand Arnsbourg and Wasenbourg castle. Then, after the üte du guetteur, it's 1H to the beautiful spa town of Niederbronn, where your adventure comes to an end. 6H walking approx. 20 KM + 584 M - 743 M
Traces will provide you with a precise list of refreshment points on your route, according to your dates and days of hiking.
The lighter you are, the more you'll enjoy your day. Your heavy bag (max. 13 kg) will be waiting for you at the stage in the evening!
The trail is very safe and there are few ravines or dangerous areas, but a sprain or fall can still happen. Remain calm and, depending on the severity of the accident, call 112, 15 or 18. Notify the Traces Hotline.
Call Traces, or text us your location and we'll arrange for a cab (at your expense) to pick you up and take you to your evening accommodation. Be sure to mark where you are so we can tell you where to join a pick-up route.
The GR 53 is a moderate, non-technical trail. There's very little elevation change on the 1st section, and not much altitude either (max. 581m).
